Opening track Catalogue Ambitions sets the scene for the sensory experience that is to follow. It’s a short but sweet acoustic set, layered with atmospheric bird sounds over expertly woven lyrics:
“Hold it closer, products are your friend. Packaged in plastic, bulk bought convenience. Perfectly processed for golden children. Come be complacent, joy comes from spending. Buy this right now, buy the optimal life now.”
Exit Light transports you with sultry guitar riffs, while A Sly Illusion allows acoustic artistry and soothing vocals to shine. When Borders Close rolls along in beat with your heart, positioning you to acknowledge the state of the world with the same gentleness of quiet prayer.
Kiss And Tell slows down the rhythm to let airy strings and a diversity of voices take the reins. The song is a standout, with a spectrum of sounds and colour shining through the lyrics: “Gazing up at watercolour pink and indigo. I no longer have my faith but still that’s quite a show. Come along and listen to the waves, I know you are.”
For those who need to be transported after plugging in their headphones, Catalogue Ambitions was made for you. The album is an exploration of emotion and an enigmatic accompaniment to any music lovers library.
