Floodlights drop new single ‘Human’

Floodlights share their new single, Human and kick off a national tour this week with Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever.

Melbourne rock outfit, Floodlights drop their new single, Human today. Sonically fusing alternative rock with garage-punk undertones, their latest release thematically explores individuality, self-reflection, and the lasting impressions left by people we meet over time that ultimately help to define and shape our identities.

Floodlights have marked themselves as a band on the rise. In true rock and roll style, the band is known for their charismatic and dynamic live performances that hark back to the greats. The band creates an air of raw intimacy, intertwined with a powerful unrestrained expression of emotions.

They evocatively explore themes of personal trials and tribulations, national identity, and the Australian landscape as a form of escapism.

Of their latest single, the band shares: “Human explores what forms our individual identity. It plays with the idea that perhaps we don’t have as much control as we think we do. Our passions and beliefs are a result of thousands of impressions left by people throughout our lives that ultimately shape the choices we make and stories we write. A complex equation of human interaction.”

Gaining global attention with their sold-out 2019 EP, Backyard and their critically-acclaimed 2020 debut album, From a View, Floodlights went on to play sold-out shows and festivals across Australia, performing alongside the likes of Amyl and The Sniffers and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, who they kick off a national tour with this week. The band are also set to play at the upcoming Falls Festival 2022 and Tent Pole Festival with Pavement (USA). Human is out now via Virgin Music Australia. Stream the new single on Spotify below.
