In the market for some top notch live music this weekend? Here are our favs, from Group Therapy, to Bad Drip.

It’s pretty simple – after combing through gig after gig, we have accumulated a list of some personal favourites that are playing this weekend in Sydney. From death metal to bedroom pop to post-punk to electro, there’s a price-savvy gig here for everyone.

Friday

Fangz

fangz

Coming off the high that is lead singer Josh’s Guinness World Record attempt (most hard-boiled eggs eaten in 4 minutes), punk rock legends Fangz is back in Sydney with their new single ‘Let’s Talk’

Fangz sounds like day drinking in the summer, aggressive flashing lights and the noises you would hear from your older brother’s room.

Containing the urge to do backflips in the middle of the mosh will be almost impossible because the band absolutely matches their stage presence with their sound.

Joining them are the equally energetic Captives and Lunchtime.

Group therapy

The FIRST SESSION of Group Therapy kicks off tonight at Mary’s Underground with Australian post-punk royalty, These New South Wales.

Joining them is Sophisticated Dingo, Deepa, Muscle Mary and Jack Stone, ensuring their patients will have a night of punk, garage rock, grunge and ass-shaking.

Just what the doctor ordered.

Wtf is in Macdonaldtown

Have YOU ever wondered what’s in Macdonaldtown? I’ll tell you – a winter dystopian-themed dance party with a legendary lineup of Brownski, Doctor Robot, Flower Boy, Hana Frazer, Aela, Mamas Boy, overduedvd, Aina Evangeline and MC Nic Doring.

Bring your own drinks, ski goggles and gloves.

Saturday

Butter bath

Pack your finest kaleidoscope to look through and get ready to be transported to an alternate universe where the saturation looks as though it’s been turned up to 100%.

Supporting this beloved dairy product is Purple Drapes, the feel-good bedroom pop artist and indie-pop musician Aloe Vera.

Bad drip

Bad Drip is the musical equivalent of a can of whoop-ass, waiting to burst open on stage at MoshPit Bar for a late afternoon show with friends The Tombstone Raiders

Inflation kills us all

Inflation? What inflation? Swallow the ‘cost of living’ pill with a dance party that is Foxlore, Inebrious Bastard, Trillion and Ant Gallery.

An eclectic mix of electronic, dream pop and crust grind. A chance to get all your love, rage and every emotion in between out for the budget-friendly price of $12.25

Master Leonard
