It has been a while since UK outfit Glass Animals hit Australian shores and the group have been pretty quiet lately.
But we’ve all just been treated to some great news, because Glass Animals have announced that they will be returning to Australia for the first time since Falls Festival 2017 for two intimate shows.
The hitmakers will play one show at the Prince Bandroom in Melbourne on Monday, 18th November and Factory Theatre in Sydney on Tuesday, 19th November.
While it seems easy to complain about the lack of music and touring from Glass Animals, it has all been for a very valid and serious reason. Unfortunately, the band’s drummer Joe Seaward was hit by a truck while cycling in Dublin last year. The injuries provided during the accident forced Seaward to undergo several surgeries and undertake a long road to healing — which involved learning how to walk, talk and drum again.
The band took to Facebook to share their pride in Seaward’s recovery:
“A year ago my best bud joe couldn’t walk or speak…much less play the drums. but look at him now. thanks to everybody who supported him in any way. be you someone from the roadside who came to his aid, someone from the hospital who operated on/tended to him, his family, friends, anyone who sent a message, or even if you just thought about him during the recovery. you are all heroes. we’re so lucky to still have you joe. so proud. big big love x”.
Tickets for the shows are set to go on sale this Wednesday, 30th October so get ready to bliss out to the Glass Animals Psych-pop magic.
