Go Violets Farewell Shows

You might have already heard that Brisbane pop institution Go Violets announced last week that they were calling it quits. For us plebeians down in the dirty, southern states, we’ll have to hold on to those fading memories of the beautiful four piece supporting Veronica Falls, but anyone lucky enough to be in Brizzy can catch the four piece’s last shows ever this weekend (29th March) for a proper goodbye.

go violets

Go Violets won our hearts and our ears with their infectious pop sensibilities only late last year with their Heart Slice EP (that sentence was so cliched I think I threw up a bit in my mouth), a set of sunshiney songs that made us briefly forget the loveless reality of our teenage years in favour of a much brighter nostalgia. But what is nostalgia without a healthy dose of embellishing those long lost years? Go on – give Heart Slice another listen before the lyrics to Wanted become bittersweet with the taste of lost love. Oh look at that, I made myself sad.

This Saturday (29th) will see the girls return to Trainspotters, while their official last show will take place on the 4th of April for Brisbane’s Youth Week Launch. Kicking off at 6pm at Reddacliff Place, next Friday’s event will see Go Violets share a stage with Asta, Academy of Brothers, Eves, The Remix Dance Showcase, Emily Foster and Tiama.
