Melbourne’s Loon Lake are heading up the coast to bring… well… good times, I guess. Stopping off in a town near you with support from Horror My Friend (SA), The Middle Names (TAS) and Jeremy Neale (Everywhere else), catch the band that have been consolidating the no-nonsense fun aesthetic of modern Triplejcore.
After garnering national attention with 2011’s Not Just Friends EP, last year’s full length LP Gloamer was a hype machine in and of itself – I definitely remember a time when Loon Lake was if not a household name then certainly a university dormitory name. I don’t know how to listen to the album without paying for it though, so my knowledge of the album comes purely from their raucous single Carolina (pron. Caroleena) and On Fire – both of which are absolutely legendary tunes.
Hitting up Radelaide’s Unibar tonight (28th) and Hobart’s Republic Bar tomorrow (29th), the wholly respectable five destination tour is a warm up to the TripleJfest that is their Groovin The Moo shows, which kick off on April 25th in Oakbank, SA. Tix are $15 a pop, available from the ticketing section of their website. How handy!
