Why is Google celebrating pizza and why are we so hungry?

Google has got the world fangin’ for pizza with their new mini-game celebrating everyone’s favourite Italian food.

The well-loved Google Doodle is an exciting way to spark up an otherwise dull conversation with your least favourite workmates, but the current Google game is just making us hungry.

The game featured on Google’s homepage asks users to cut slices of pizza based on the toppings and slices ordered and when it’s done correctly, a few hands reach into the frame to gobble up the cheesy treat.

Google Doodle Game

Google usually uses the home page to announce special birthdays, anniversaries, or holidays, but for some reason, the ruling search engine has decided to just celebrate one of the most popular Italian dishes. Maybe even just one of the most popular dishes all around the world – pizza.

Is Domino’s paying them or something?

Nope! According to Google, on the 6th of December 2007, the culinary Art of Neapolitan ‘Pizzaiulo’ was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. To celebrate that day, Google has released a cute, if not frustrating, game for its users.

The UNESCO list was created to protect important intangible cultural heritages worldwide and the awareness of their significance. So it makes perfect sense that the world’s most popular food, according to World Travel Connector, would make its way onto the list.

The puzzle Google created to celebrate the dream dish features some of the most beloved pizza toppings from all over the world, showing a variety of choices. Although it’s uncertain if there’s a gluten-free or vegan option.

The game itself has actually got many users scratching their heads. You may think it’s simple to slice a pizza, but the game requires some weird slicing techniques.

It’s like a free lesson before your first job working at a takeaway pizza place.

There are 11 levels/pizzas for you to make in the game, each level more challenging than the last. Some involve very awkward amounts of slices. It may not be that realistic, but it’s pretty fun and it will definitely kick-start your appetite.

You can still play the game here but you should know, you may get a little hangry!
