Hear Lana Del Rey cover Sublime’s iconic 1996 track Doin’ Time

Lana Del Rey has unveiled her cover of Sublime’s transcendental track Doin’ Time.

Her sultry take on the iconic ska-punk band’s 1996 track comes as part of their upcoming documentary, which covers the history of the iconic Californian outfit.

Not a day goes by that I don’t listen to a Sublime song,” said Del Rey in a statement. “They epitomised the SoCal vibe and made a genre and sound totally their own.

Adapting the late Bradley Nowell’s smooth vocals and turning it into her own dreamy rendition, Doin’ Time is an ode to Long Beach and the beachside flavour that is synonymous to Lana Del Rey.

The track is emotive and magical, and the gender-flipped vocals add a layer of complexity, bringing a sense of new life to the classic song.

The Sublime documentary was directed by Oscar winner Bill Guttentag and premiered at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival in April this year.
