Jen Buxton is a singer songwriter from Newcastle with real grit in her voice. Combine this with a capturing writing style and you will begin to understand what makes her special.
Jen Buxton’s debut album Don’t Change Your Plans was released in 2011 by Poison City Records and it was a wonderful mash up of alternative country, folk, and gutsy rock tracks. In 2013, she returned to form, this time releasing Desperation Demos, an album comprised of 5 mostly melancholic tracks.
If it wasn’t apparent from the album title, Desperation Demos is made up of some notably darker tracks such as Anhedonia and Dystymia. But it isn’t all bleak – shards of light emerge through the songs covered in gloomy shadows, her unique voice singing – “I can’t write unless something is wrong…and then you came along”.
Jen isn’t merely a singer songwriter, she is a lyricist and she is a poet. Her lyrics are both raw and honest and she obviously doesn’t shy away from telling her personal story through her music.
