John Carpenter’s transcendent soundtrack for Halloween is being reissued

To celebrate Halloween in 2019, Sacred Bones Records have announced Halloween: Expanded Edition, set for release on October 18th on special limited edition vinyl. The 2018 remake of the heralded Halloween horror film franchise was met with critical and commercial acclaim, as was its soundtrack.

The soundtrack album debuted at #12 on the Billboard albums chart and #2 on the vinyl chart. A year after the release of the film, Sacred Bones Records have announced an expanded edition of the soundtrack, with an additional 28 minutes of music from the film.

Halloween

John Carpenter’s Halloween: Expanded Edition will be available on various 12” special vinyl editions on October 18th to celebrate Halloween 2019.

The soundtrack pays homage to John Carpenter’s legendary and transcendent film score from the original 1978 Halloween film. Grandson of Carpenter Daniel Davies stated, “We wanted to honour the original Halloween soundtrack in terms of the sounds we used…We used a lot of the Dave Smith OB-6, bowed guitar, Roland Juno, Moog, Roland System 1, Roland System 8, different guitar pedals, mellotron, and piano.”

The expanded edition includes 24 cues to the album which spread across two more sides of vinyl on the deluxe LP version. The LP also comes with a range of additional toys, including new art and packaging and an optical-illusion lenticular sleeve that makes the flames around Michael Myers’s mask dance when you slide it off the record jacket.

The soundtrack will be made available on October 18th on various 12” special vinyl editions. One things for certain this movie looks scary as hell!
