Breaking the 16-year silence since its last release will be Volumes 11 and 12 of the Desert Sessions mixtape, headed by rock lord Josh Homme.
Homme’s collaborative music project began as a series of low-key songwriting sessions amongst friends at the Rancho De La Luna studio, in a remote region of the Californian desert. Since the initial release of Desert Sessions Vol. 1 and 2, Josh Homme has consistently delivered the goods with bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal and Kyuss.
The upcoming releases of the Desert Sessions anthology will arrive in two new volumes and feature some music’s most obscure and legendary artists.
This time around, Homme is not holding back, teeing up with legends from the likes of Les Claypool (Primus) and Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), with some unusual suspects such as Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) and even actor Matt Berry (The Mighty Boosh, What We Do in the Shadows).
Both Volume 11: Arriverderci Despair and Volume 12: Tightwads & Nitwits & Critics & Heels will be released by Matador Records on October 25 and will feature a limited vinyl press with a special mix and match body swap booklet (so that you can switch and combine the arms/legs/head of your favourite Desert Sessions stars).
A tracklist has already been released giving some insight into who’s doing what on the next two instalments of Desert Sessions.
