Kanye West has just announced his first ever opera

Kanye West is full of surprises, so much so that his latest announcement – a Kanye West Opera – is almost unsurprising.

The opera, Nebuchadnezzar, will take place at the Hollywood Bowl this Sunday, November 24, and will also feature music by Kanye’s Sunday Service performers and Peter Collins & Infinities Song.

Kanye West has just announced his latest venture, Nebuchadnezzar: A Kanye West Opera, taking place at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend.

Taking to Twitter today, the rapper revealed the artwork for the event, a golden program featuring an engraving of the Babylonian King, after whom the opera is named.

Directed by Italian performance artist and many-time collaborator, Vanessa Beecroft, Nebuchadnezzar is based on the king of Babylon from the Book of Daniel.

Speaking with televangelist Joel Osteen just hours before he made the announcement, West described:

“I know that God’s been calling me for a long time and the devil’s been distracting me for a long time. Jesus has won the victory. I told you about my arrogance and cockiness already. Now the greatest artist that God has ever created is now working for him.”

If you happen to be in Los Angeles, tickets for the opera go on sale today.
