Let King Gizz drag you into the rat’s nest with a new 90s style shooter

Australia’s favourite psych rock septet have just gone and one up-ed EVERYONE in the art of hype generation. A few days ahead of the release of their fifteenth record, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have released a full blown shooter style online video game.

Titled MARS FOR THE RICH, the game is a first person shooter with a distinct grainy vibe that harkens back to seminal 90’s shooters such as Doom and Wolfenstein. Give it a crack. It ain’t easy!

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard drags you into the rat’s nest in their online shooter Mars For The Rich, combining 90’s gaming nostalgia and thrash rock.

You make your way through the eponymous rat’s nest armed only with an unloaded shot gun. After picking up just one bullet, you’re swarmed by a hoard of rats. Over before it really begins, but oh boy what a ride.

At the very least, there’s an absolutely kick ass soundtrack backing the game. If you can survive long enough there are some unreleased gems in there, hopefully off the forthcoming album.

The title of the game is taken from a track off of Infest The Rat’s Nest, the band’s new record releasing this Friday. The singles from the record show the band taking their sound in a wild new direction. Less dreamy psychedelia this time around. This feels closer to Slayer than anything The Grateful Dead would’ve released in their time. Take a geez at the latest clip for Organ Farmer to wrap your head around it.
