Everyone does weird shit when they’re on drugs, but not everyone fills hotel bathtubs with potatoes while wearing women’s underwear on drugs.
James Johnson, 30, had planned to go on a humble one-night sesh with a group of friends, which eventually became a five-day bender that got more than a little weird.
A UK man was arrested after police found him wearing women’s underwear and filling a hotel bath with potatoes on a five-day bender.
In preparation for the planned one night party, Johnson ordered £750 (roughly $1300 AUD) worth of drugs off the dark web and booked into a Travelodge. Four days later, the hotel staff became suspicious of the 30-year-old-man when they smelled marijuana coming from his room. They soon called the police, who then waited for him to return to the hotel.
Johnson was approached by the police upon his return to the hotel and was found to be off his rocket wearing women’s underwear on top of his clothing and holding a big sack of potatoes. This led to a search of his room, where they found the bathtub filled to the brim with, you guessed it, potatoes.
According to the Daily Echo, the prosecutor in Johnson’s case said that police had seen him “with the bag of potatoes and in women’s clothing.” He speculated, “it may be this that led officers to believe that he was intoxicated.”
The judge, who described the case as “odd and bizarre,” asked Johnson why he had filled the bathtub with potatoes, to which he replied, “It felt like the right thing to do at the time.”
Authorities also found an assortment of drugs in the room, including MDMA, and the psychedelic 2CB. Police handed the illegal substances over to drug experts following Johnson’s arrest, tests showed that due to the impurity of the drugs, they were only worth about £300. He was charged with possession with intent to supply.
