Morgan Freeman converted his gigantic ranch into a giant bee sanctuary

Morgan Freeman, one of the great actors of our time, and narrator of the century, has converted his 124-acre Mississippi Ranch into a honeybee sanctuary.

Freeman’s fascination with beekeeping publicly dates back to 2014, where he discussed his new hobby on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Freeman explained the importance to preserve and save wild bees.

“There is a concentrated effort for bringing bees back onto the planet…We do not realise that they are the foundation, I think, of the growth of the planet, the vegetation…”

Freeman imported 26 hives from Arkansas to his ranch in Mississippi. Now he works there to ensure the bees are fed water and sugar, and has been planting bee-friendly flora like magnolia, clover, and lavender.

The actor has further mentioned that he never wears a bee hat or a bee suit, and to this day they have not stung him.

“They haven’t (stung me) yet, because right now I’m not trying to harvest honey or anything, I’m just feeding them… I think they understand, ‘Hey, don’t bother this guy, he’s got sugar water here.'”

If only Morgan Freeman’s love for the bees was mirrored by Game of Thrones fans’ love for Season 8.

Speaking of classic actors doing cool things, Patrick Stewart has featured in the new teaser for the upcoming Star Trek series, Pickard.
