Poignantly landing on International Women’s Day, One Off Traks announce their class of 2024
With an intent to tackle the gender imbalance prevailing in the music industry, ONE OFF TRAKS has today announced the 25 selected creatives for their Class of 2024 writing camp.
This year’s cohort, comprising all-female, trans, and non-binary talents, was meticulously chosen from an overwhelming pool of over 200 applications.
Hailing from various corners of Australia, this handpicked group of producers, artists, and songwriters will convene on Gadigal Land in Sydney’s inner west for ONE OFF TRAKS’ exclusive songwriting sessions and music industry workshops.
Generously sponsored by Beatport, Sony Publishing Australia, and Audio-Technica, the four-day camp promises to be a melting pot of creativity and collaboration.
Among the promising talents making waves in the Class of 2024 is multi-disciplinary artist POOKIE, a shining example of community-driven artistry within the South Sudanese diaspora.
POOKIE’s celebration of her culture through visual art, poetry, and music has earned her a spot alongside the likes of ARIA-nominated singer Chanel Loren and other distinguished ONE OFF TRAKS alumni.
Jamaica Moana, a rapper, artist, creative director, and prominent figure in the Australian ballroom community, adds her unique flair to the lineup. Joining her is the rising soultress CD, recognized for her intuitive approach to contemporary R&B, solidifying her status as one of the country’s most compelling new acts.
The initiative, now in its second year, is spearheaded by industry powerhouses Carolina De La Piedra (Elefant Traks), Jannah Beth (Offbeat Collective/Elefant Traks), Minori Ueda (One Day), and Nazlican Eren (One Day).
ONE OFF TRAKS aims to provide both established and emerging female, non-binary, and trans creatives with the resources and opportunities needed to craft world-class music.
Leading the writing sessions for the 2024 camp are Milan Ring, Lucy Blomkamp, and Maribelle Añes, each bringing a wealth of creativity and unparalleled songwriting expertise.
ONE OFF TRAKS has also announced a partnership with JD Sports on International Women’s Day, offering a wildcard entry to one lucky participant. This collaboration reflects JD Sports’ commitment to supporting diversity and empowerment within creative industries, aligning perfectly with ONE OFF TRAKS’ mission.
