The celebrity blogger is receiving medical care as his family asks for privacy.
Perez Hilton’s family has confirmed the celebrity blogger is receiving medical care following a serious mental health crisis at his Miami home on August 4.
“Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers,” the family said in a statement published on Hilton’s website the following day.
The statement said the family’s focus remains on Hilton’s wellbeing and asked the public to respect their privacy while he receives treatment.
Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., was taken to hospital after concerned viewers contacted emergency services during a TikTok livestream.
Authorities said the broadcast appeared to show acts of self-harm, prompting multiple reports and a welfare response at his home.
Dispatch audio obtained by US media shows the first calls came in at around 6:51pm. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies later confirmed Hilton was alone inside the property.
Officers used crisis-intervention techniques designed to slow the situation down, create distance and allow time for communication before entering the home.
Emergency responders eventually gained access, and Hilton was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
His management team has also said his health and the wellbeing of his family remain the priority, adding that any verified updates will come through official channels.
TikTok said its automated systems flagged the livestream within minutes and referred it to moderators.
The platform removed the broadcast, took down subsequent streams and banned Hilton’s account for breaching its policies around suicide and self-harm content.
Footage from the livestream has continued to circulate online. Viewers are being urged not to repost or seek out the material, and to approach the situation with care rather than treating a person’s crisis as entertainment.
