PREMIERE: Clare Hennessy is an eerie, captivating presence on Bittersweetest

There’s a captivating theatricality to Clare Hennessy’s music. We’ve known this since she dropped her debut EP back in April.

With a background in theatre, Hennessy weaves brilliant story-telling with raw instrumentation – it’s tense, endearing, and often quite unsettling. Of the four songs she presented on that first EP, the track that really grabbed our attention was Bittersweetest… and now it’s our pleasure to be premiering the track’s incredible new music video.

Bittersweetest, the unnerving and slow-burning new video from Clare Hennessy, is calm, discomforting, and almost impossible to look away from.

Reminiscent of Kill Bill’s church massacre scene, Hennessy’s new music video possesses a quiet and discomforting quality that’s almost impossible to look away from.

The slow-burning clip slowly unveils a harrowing storyline, with Hennessy cleaning up the scene of a seemingly violent act with an eerie sense of calm.

The track itself is equally unnerving, stripped back to raw guitar lines and haunting vocals. If this thing doesn’t send shivers down your spine, you may want to check your pulse.

Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long to hear (or watch) more from Clare Hennessy. Though for now, do yourself a favour and watch the new video above.

Claire Hennessy’s April EP is out now.
