PREMIERE: Dirty Rascal unveil their heartfelt video for What Would Love Do

Melbourne powerhouse rock group Dirty Rascal are back with a brand new music video for their latest single What Would Love Do, taken from their 2018 album You Be The King.

With clever instrumentation that seamlessly interchanges between reggae and rock, alongside heartfelt lyricism, the video explores the notion of looking to love in an attempt to find answers in difficult times.

Dirty Rascal search for answers with their new music video for What Would Love Do, taken from their latest album You Be The King.

The band is a combination of legendary Australian musicians, including guitars and madolin from songwriters Andrew McSweeney (McSweeney and Kutcha Edwards) and ARIA winner John Fleming (Scared Weird Little Guys), alongside the rhythm section made up of Grammy Award-winner Jerry Speiser (Men At Work) and Andy Dixon (The Cloaks).

If that wasn’t enough star studded-ness for you, What Would Love Do also features a special performance from the late Aussie guitar legend Ross Hannaford in one of his last recordings, as well as a killer keyboard solo from Bruce Haymes (Paul Kelly, Archie Roach).

Speaking about the song,  Andrew McSweeney said:

“‘What Would Love Do’ is a song about looking for an answer during challenging times and realising the answer might just be love. Yep pretty corny.

The idea that love can answer questions. It begins with acts of ‘self love’ such as stillness, silence, reflection and communion with nature” he continues “to allow the space for connection and purpose, giving answers an opportunity to present themselves. Disconnect to reconnect.”

The music video was filmed at a Labyrinth in Melbourne’s south, which acted as inspiration for the theme of searching for answers and getting passers-by to write down what they thought love would do.
