Solo mastermind Neo Rose latest single is a supremely impressive slice of rock heaven.
Pulling all the strings and armed with some powerful guns for hire, Neo Rose is one new Sydney rock act to keep very close tabs on.
Drawing on elements of Kings of Leon and Jeff Buckley, Neo Rose’s new tune, Peace Of The Past, is as solid as singles get.
Originating from the bucolic country town of Scone, NSW, Neo Rose is a one man army with more than a few aces up his sleeve. Having moved to Sydney in 2017 to study Audio Engineering at AIM, he picked up a backing band through friends he sourced at University.
Neo Rose records everything himself at Spinlight Studio in Newcastle except for the drums who is recorded by the audio engineer there.
After the release of his debut single Surefire last year, Neo Rose has been on a roll to say the least. Tailor-Made, the follow up single, dropped earlier this year and is all of equally potent quality marking Neo Rose as a deftly powerful songwriter.
Ultimately, Peace of the Past is a song about finding comfort in your memories. The chorus is sticky as hell and will absolutely be ringing through your head for days. Even more powerful that the clear delivery of Neo Rose’s vocals is the jam packed solo.
Dropping in from the chorus into the deep end of a key change, it provides a completely unforeseen yet welcome musical U-turn and a testament to the quality of the song craft. There are certainly splashes of artists like Blink 182, Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, and The Darkness floating through which creates the concoction of eclectic influences that Neo Rose is known for.
Despite it all Neo Rose is comfortably submerged in his own sound word. The flashing coral colours of styles and techniques that are wholly his, we eagerly await his debut EP which will be dropping 21 Feb 2020.
