When they released their seriously infectious debut single Feels Like earlier this year, our attention was immediately directed towards Melbourne outfit The Velvet Club.
With the release of the song, the band immediately established their penchant for crafting jangly, hook-driven indie-rock tracks. Today, we’re stoked to premiering The Velvet Club’s brand-spankin-new single Northern Beaches.
With their seriously addictive new single Northern Beaches, Melbourne four-piece The Velvet Club have delivered one of our favourite track of the year.
On the new track, the band take their signature sun-soaked sounds and drench them in a healthy dose of crunching guitars and droning vocals, never sacrificing their punchy, raucous charm.
As the song reaches the conclusion of its simmering bridge, it explodes into an all-out catharsis of thumping percussion and guitars that will rattle your spine.
Somehow feeling simultaneously cinematic and down-to-earth, The Velvet Club have just delivered one of our favourite tracks of the year. Although it feels quite distant on surface to their previous single, the band have managed to tie it in to their incredibly addictive indie-rock sound.
These are still early days for The Velvet Club, but judging from what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more great tunes from this Melbourne four-piece.
