Want to have a great weekend in Sydney without breaking the wallet? Hop along to any of these free gigs – we assure you they’re going to go off.

Mikey, Dean, and Troy from Queens of the Stone Age (DJ Set) – Waywards

Yesterday we broke the news that Mikey, Dean, and Troy from Queens of the Stone Age had locked in a surprise DJ set at Waywards on Friday night, which (‘scuse my language) is fucking huge. These guys are playing two shows at the Hordern Pavillion while they’re in town, the fact that they’re stopping by Newtown for a free set is ridiculous.

So that’s our number one pick. Put on your dancing shoes and drop in at 11pm – this one’s bound to go over capacity so make sure you’re on time.

11pm Friday 1 September – Waywards at The Bank Hotel – Facebook event

King Street Crawl at The Bank

Our first King Street Crawl pick is also coming to you from The Bank Hotel, presented by Cobra Club (who have been putting on their rad free shows on a Tuesday). Both levels of The Bank will play host to some of Sydney’s finest, kicking off at 11am and going until they’re forced to stop.

On the lineup you’ll catch Body Type, Party Dozen, Jonti, Bin Juice, RACKETT, Charlie Collins… and that’s about the half of it. Like all King Street Crawl shows, it will be taking place on Sunday September 2nd.

11am Sunday 2 November – The Bank Hotel – Facebook event

Spike Vincent – The Lady Hamsphire

Sydney’s Spike Vincent will be playing at The Lady Hampshire this Saturday alongside Baby Beef and No Balance, with two hours of Craig Atkins on the decks to close the night. Festivities kick off at 9pm, be sure to be there.

Grab all the details right here. If you miss out on Spike this Saturday, you can catch him at the next Happy Mag gig on September 29th.

9pm Saturday 1 September – The Lady Hampshire – Facebook event

King Street Crawl at the Slyfox

For the garage and psychedelically inclined, the Slyfox is where you’ll want to be when King Street Crawl rolls in. There’s a cracking lineup assembled, featuring the likes of The Pinheads, Straight Arrows, Rosa Maria, Nick Nuisance & The Delinquents plus heaps more.

It’s an all day feature, so pop in whenever – there’s sure to be good vibes whipping through the joint whenever you check in.

1pm Sunday 2 September – Slyfox – Facebook event

Your Girl Pho – Golden Age Cinema & Bar

Neo-soul sister Your Girl Pho is hitting the Golden Age Cinema & Bar on Saturday September 1st, bringing in Ash Hendricks for support. Golden Age is always a good vibe – it’s a bar you’d want to hang around on a Saturday night soiree anyway, so why not catch some free music while you’re at it?

The bar will be open from 2:30pm onwards if you want to seriously pregame, with music kicking off at 10pm.
