UPDATE: The four protestors have now been released again. However, they’re reportedly due back in court, and could still face more prison time.
Earlier this month, four members of the Russian feminist-punk collective Pussy Riot, rushed he field of the World Cup final staging their biggest protest to date.
Today was meant to be the final day of their 15 day sentence. However, the four have once again been arrested.
On the day they were set to be released from prison, Pussy Riot’s four World Cup protestors have been re-arrested.
According to Pussy Riot member Nadya Tolokonnikova, they were charged with “the organization and holding of public events without prior written notice,” which can result in up to 10 days more imprisonment.
The four protestors – Veronica ‘Nika’ Nikulshina, Olga Kuracheva, Olga Pakhtusova, and Petya Verzilov – rushed the field of the World Cup Final at Luzhniki stadium in Moscow to draw attention to Russia’s political and prison system.

Immediately following the protest, Pussy Riot members took to social media to confirm they were responsible.
“After 15 days of arrest our girls ended up in the police station till the morning,” PR tweeted. “They’re laughing and singing songs about freedom tho.”
