Almost a fortnight back, we heard that Radiohead were working with Hans Zimmer on an orchestral rework of their Kings of Limbs track Bloom, dubbed ocean (bloom). The rework was set to soundtrack BBC’s upcoming nature doco Blue Planet II.
Radiohead meets Zimmer meets David Attenborough? If that doesn’t rustle something up inside you, there may be something amiss.
Hans Zimmer, Radiohead and David motherfucking Attenborough collide in the epic new prequel to Blue Planet II. Goosebumps!
Hear ocean (bloom) and check out the short film prequel below:

Apparently the original version of Bloom took some serious notes from the original Blue Planet series, screened in 2001. It’s a match made in heaven!
In a press release, Yorke said:
“Bloom was inspired by the original Blue Planet series so it’s great to be able to come full circle with the song and reimagine it for this incredible landmark’s sequel.”
“Hans is a prodigious composer who effortlessly straddles several musical genres so it was liberating for us all to work with such a talent and see how he wove the sound of the series and ‘Bloom’ together.”
