Rebel claps back at journalist who tried to “out” her sexuality during the 2022 AACTA Awards

Rebel Wilson cheekily snubbed a Sydney Morning Herald journalist, during the 2022 AACTA Awards ceremony in Sydney.

Rebel Wilson made a sneaky remark about the Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesday (December 7), while introducing nominees during the 2022 AACTA Awards ceremony in Sydney.

“There’s been big things that have happened in my life this year,” Declared Rebel. “Big changes…I’ve switched from dairy to soy.” She continued, “I thought I should just tell you guys now and get the jump on the Sydney Morning Herald.”

Inducing much laughter from the crowd, Rebel Wilson was making a thinly-concealed reference to Andrew Hornery; a Sydney Morning Herald journalist who, earlier this year, threatened to “out” her relationship with girlfriend, Ramona Agruma, which subsequently pressured the actress to come out herself on June 1o via social media.

“I thought I was searching for a prince, but what I needed was a princess!” she captioned beneath images of her and Ramona Agruma, along with the hashtag, “#loveislove.”

In even more Rebel news, the acclaimed Aussie actress recently welcomed her first child, Royce Lillian, whose birth was announced in November: “Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate. I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle!”

Rebel continued, “I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are), this has been years in the making…but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care. Thank you for helping me start my own family, it’s an amazing gift. The BEST gift!!”
