“2008 – 2017”: Royal Headache have officially broken up

Well, this is a bummer. Following a lengthy period of inactivity, Sydney garage-punk legends Royal Headache have confirmed their break-up.

In a kind of mysterious Facebook post, the band simply wrote “2008-2017“, suggesting they’ve been over for at least six months.

‘Tis a dark day in Australian music: Following months of inactivity, Sydney’s Royal Headache appear to have officially called it a day.

The group’s final show was at FYF Fest last year… and if you ever got to see them live, lucky you. Royal Headache were one of the best live bands I ever saw, and honestly I’m getting a bit emotional now writing this.

In their career, RH released two incredible full-length albums – their 2011 self-titled debut, and 2015’s High.

In between the release of those two records, the band also released the single Stand & Stare through Matador Records.

With this announcement, the Aussie music scene has lost one of its best bands. RIP Royal Headache, you will be sorely missed.
