Back in the tail end of 2015, the Smithsonian institute began a massive, crowd-sourced photography campaign. They put the call out for shots of our favourite rock ‘n’ rollers ever, and anyone could submit.
That project has culminated in the release of Smithsonian Rock and Roll: Live and Unseen, a hardcover photo book to be released on October 24th.
But you can have a cheeky preview of what’s on offer today.
Back in 2015, the Smithsonian asked for your rock ‘n’ roll shots. As they prepare to release a manual of the best submissions, suss an early preview of what to expect.
Amongst the preview pics are Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Blondie, The Clash… you get the picture. It’s an excellent roster, and the greatest part about these photos is that most of them would be previously unseen.
I hate to imagine what it was like sorting through the entries… we’re glad somebody did it.
