Spike Jonze put his skills to use during Frank Ocean’s Lovebox Festival set. Is there a collab in the works?

Renowned director Spike Jonze followed Frank Ocean around throughout his set at Lovebox Festival last Friday night.

Ocean performed on a special platform throughout the whole set, while Jonze filmed him with a handheld camera.

Spike Jonze and Frank Ocean have been spotted side by side. What sort of project do the duo have in the works?

Jonze is famous for directing Her, Where The Wild Things Are and Being John Malkovich, but also has a long catalogue of music videos for the likes of Beastie Boys, The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs up his sleeve.

Reportedly tracking Ocean throughout his set, the footage was instantly displayed on the big screens on either side of the stage during the singer’s performance.

If Thursday at Wimbledon was one of the best of my life, Friday is now also one of the best of my life, and I’m a bit worried I’m living in a virtual reality simulation! Here’s Frank Ocean rather nearby singing so beautifully as one of my film heroes, Spike Jonze, films him and projects a live music video of it back to the stage. We had no chance of getting close to the main stage so had stayed by a platform in the middle because they were setting up some interesting rare cameras for the gig. It turned out to be the platform Frank performed on for the whole set. His voice was incredible, the night was warm and clear and the audience were sweet and sharing with one another. It was pure magic ✨

Lovebox Festival over the weekend was the first time Ocean had performed in London since the 2013 Wireless Festival.
