Steven Seagal adds ‘Pro-Kremlin’ political party member in Russia to his list of accolades along with Russian citizenship.
Imagine you’re a guy from Michigan who is a martial artist, who then turns into a ’90s Hollywood action star, to being mates with Vladimir Putin, living in Russia as a member of a Russian political party in Moscow.
Suffice to say, Steven Seagal, who’s now deemed a threat to Ukraine’s national security, is living the dream.
Seagel received a party membership card for an alliance named “Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth,” which entails a pro-Putin and social-democratic political party forged by the unification of numerous left-wing, nationalist and socialist groups.
Its name derives from the “A Just Russia” party, the “Patriots of Russia” party and the “For Truth” party, which were amalgamated at the beginning of 2021.

In 2018, the Russian foreign ministry appointed Seagal’s (probably unqualified) unpaid position of “special representative for Russian-US humanitarian ties.”
This could possibly be due to the fact he remains a U.S citizen, which also prevents him from being able to run for office.
His silver lining is that as a semi-recent citizen of Russia, he is permitted to join political parties and was firstly and previously a member of the Russian nationalist “For Truth” party.
His new role will involve working on environmental issues, including putting businesses that damage the environment in the hot seat, according to his welcome speech. Seagal stated,
“We really need to set up a situation where we can investigate, arrest, [and] prosecute people criminally so that there is results. Without being able to arrest people, when we just fine them, they are probably making more money off the production of the things that are defiling the environment than they would be fined.”
It’s an interesting concept, to say the very least.
I can’t say that the Russian government is known for advocating for the environment, so I guess we will have to see how this all flies.
Especially because Seagal has aligned himself with people like the For Truth founder Zakhar Prilepin, a writer who was a member of the now-banned Russian National Bolshevik Party.
And to add more spice into the pot, Seagel is wanted for terrorism in Ukraine as part of an armed battalion in 2017 of pro-Russian separatists, after allegedly commanding a subunit that killed more Ukrainians than any other.
Deservedly he has earned being blacklisted as a national security threat.
Seagal has likewise jumped on that bandwagon of being a national threat to Ukraine for his relationship to the Kremlin.
It didn’t help that he has previously expressed his admiration for Putin by referring to him as a ‘brother’ and describing him as “one of the world’s greatest leaders”. I guess that’s the praise Putin received for bonding with Seagal over martial arts,
“The first time I went to his (Putin’s) home, I walked in and saw a life-sized statue of Kanō Jigorō, who is the founder of judo, so I was immediately taken and impressed and sort of really wanting to get to know this man deeper and deeper,” Seagal stated in 201 to Russian state-run news channel RT.
It’s probably a good idea that the U.S refused Putin’s proposal in 2013 to make Seagal an honorary consul of Russia in California and Arizona, which means Seagal potentially would have been the intermediary between the White House and the Kremlin.
Nyet, I also don’t see that happening for Seagal. He also gushed,
“He (Putin) is a student of Asian philosophy, but he’s also a student of, you know, medieval, you know, great leaders and great tacticians. He’s a smart man who studies those people who have amazing results in history.”
I would say Putin is pretty smart too. You gotta be smart to be an evil mastermind.
