Tame Impala reveal that the rumoured ‘hiatus’ is just a rumour, and they don’t have any plans to disband

Yesterday we reported that, following their forthcoming performances at Laneway 2017, Tame Impala would be going on an indefinite hiatus to the woes of many fans. However, the band’s manager, Spinning Top‘s Jodie Regan has jumped in to clear few things up, telling Pedestrian TV that there is no hiatus.

Hold up. Tame Impala not going on hiatus. In fact, Parker is just taking time out to potentially write a new album. Thank Christ…

The hiatus that Parker was referring to in an interview with Kiwi publication Noted was one from live performance, not from Tame Impala as a whole. The band have been touring Currents non-stop more than a year now, but finally the record has run its course.

“I really don’t know how that’s going to feel because in the past, the album cycles haven’t really ended with a bang, or even ended decidedly,” Parker told Noted. “They just sort of peter out. But this time it really is a bookend.”

“I’m glad it’s happening at Laneway,” he continued. “There will be tears and cheers, and emotions will be running high. I think it’ll be quite weird, but not without a sense of accomplishment.”

However, he went on to say that there was no plan to stop making music, but rather that the future was a “blank canvas. But a blank canvas in a good way.”

This ambiguity left fans reeling with the possibility that this canvas would not be filled with anything to do with Tame Impala. However, it is now clear that it will be thanks to the calm clarification from Regan. Thank fuck.

No more details on any future Tame Impala releases have been revealed, so stay tuned.

PS: We’re sorry for giving Tame Impala fans heart attacks.
