The Khanz

If a fruity fusion of indie-rock, electro and jungle is what your ears have been waiting to hear, then look no further than The Khanz. The band’s most recent release Deerhunter, has already attracted attention beyond our Aussie shores – scoring high rotation by stations everywhere from the States to Norway, and the many weird and wonderful places in between. Much like the band members themselves, Deerhunter successfully pushes the boundaries of both the current music landscape, and of modern day societal issues.

the khanz

Forming in April of 2009, The Khanz managed to land a residency at the everyone’s favourite disgusting place Oxford Art Factory within a year of their existence, and have since opened for a number of fellow Australian acts such as Sticky Fingers, San Cisco and Bluejuice (just to name a few). In addition to this, the band have produced and mastered a vast collection of original music made from the soul, and ‘for the people’.

The crew combine their vocals and various instruments to create harmonic and infectious melodies. The synthesized indie-dance sound is generated from two guitars, a bass, keys, percussion, flute and a whole lot of raw talent. If you enjoy listening to the likes of Alt-J, Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire and/or MGMT, then you will love The Khanz. Even if you’re not a fan of the said musicians, do yourself a favour and check it anyway. Here is Deerhunter.
