The Mundays ooze laid-back charisma on their debut EP Lazy

Debut EPs can be a little hit and miss. Many bands take some time to settle on a concrete sound, hence their debut offerings often lack direction. Gold Coast-based outfit The Mundays, however, are not one of these bands.

With the release of their EP Lazy, they’ve immediately established themselves as one of the Aussie music scene’s most exciting emerging acts. If you’re not already familiar with this band, it’s definitely time you changed that.

On their debut EP Lazy, Gold Coast-based outfit The Mundays present an effortlessly charismatic slice of groove-laden indie-rock.

Throughout the new EP, The Mundays glide through a laid-back blend of indie-rock, dub, pop, and reggae, crafting a sound that’s uniquely their own. With infectiously relaxed instrumentation and sauntering vocal melodies, Lazy is oozing with effortless charisma.

Across its five-track duration, the new EP pulls in myriad sonic directions—it never sits in one place for too long. EP opener Blessed melds earthy acoustic guitars with groove-laden beats, creating a track that will seep deep into your bones, leaving you no choice but to move. By the time Will You Fly With Me reaches its conclusion, you’ll have been roped in completely to The Munday’s brilliantly relaxed music.

These are still early days for this Gold Coast band, but judging by the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes.

In the meantime, do yourself a favour and listen to the new EP above.
