Is all that glitters gold? Because right now it’s definitely looking like it could be green. For the first time since the lovable ogre entered our lives and our hearts in 2001, the Shrek soundtrack is available on vinyl.
The soundtrack was an absolute smash hit alongside the film. It gave the world a haunting cover of Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright, a cosy rendition of The Monkees I’m A Believer by Eddie Murphy among others. And for better or for (much, much) worse, it gave an international platform to Smash Mouth’s meme-worthy 1999 track All Star.
For the first time ever, the 2001 Shrek soundtrack is now available on vinyl! We’re just shocked it took this long for the big wigs to realise what we were all missing.
Those of us who were kicking around our parents ankles at the turn of the century will probably remember this CD or cassette making regular rounds on family road trips or school discos. So maybe for your parent’s sake, keep this one to yourself for a little while. 18 years just doesn’t seem like enough time for that scar to fade.
Grab yourself a pressing on swamp green here, or if staple black vinyl is your thing then Amazon have your back. Let’s be honest, this gem will be one hot commodity. Who even knew the Baha Men wrote a single other banger besides Who Let The Dogs Out?
