The Sooks unleash dreamy new single ‘Lucy’ ahead of live show

Sydney indie-rockers, The Sooks unveil their powerful, anthemic, dream-pop-inspired hit, Lucy ahead of live debut at Waywards, September 2.

A striking follow-up to Motley, The Sooks have returned with their second single of the year, Lucy. This latest offering marks a creative shift for the group, as they explore a fresh soundscape, reminiscent of ’90s dream-pop bands, but with a signature twist.

Reeling you in from the get-go with heavenly, reverb-soaked guitars, passionate and melodic vocals, a captivating rhythm and poetic lyrics, this four-and-half-minute tune will have you floating on a cloud of vivid teenage nostalgia.

As described by the band, Lucy came to fruition “four or five years ago, and is lyrically quite simplistic and juvenile, reflecting the mindset of a youthful teenager.”

Hailing from Western Sydney, The Sooks comprise frontman Corey Fitzsimons, guitarist Keenan Fitzsimons, bassist Jeremy Cassar and drummer Flynn Hume. Fusing sixties jangle-pop with Australian indie, they’ve created an eclectic sound, inspired by bands past and present.

Since emerging onto the scene with their striking debut anthem, Motley, followed closely by a sold-out show at The Chippo Hotel, The Sooks have rapidly built a growing fanbase, and they show no signs of slowing down. The band have announced a third single on the horizon, set to launch in October of this year. In even more exciting news, we can expect the arrival of their debut EP in January 2023!

In celebration of Lucy, The Sooks will perform a LIVE debut of the stellar new track this Friday (September 2) at Waywards, 8pm with support from The Toothpicks and Tawny Port. Grab your tickets here! Stream the new single on Spotify below.
