Young Franco enlists Theophilus London for funky new single ‘Get Your Money’

Young Franco has released Get Your Money, a funky hip hop single featuring Theophilus London.

The track sees the Brisbane producer pair live drums with ’70s disco-era string sections, while Theophilus London delivers melodic flows about partying with his collaborator: Franco bounce the beat, the Trinidad and Tobago-born rapper sings on the song’s verse, “get the party going up to the morning.

Get Your Money marks Young Franco’s latest foray into electro-hip hop, having released the Pell and Jafunk-assisted single, Like That in July. The collection of American rappers adds to Franco’s already starry list of previous collaborators, which includes the likes of Denzel Curry, Glass Animals and Tkay Maidza across a long tracklist of the DJ’s standalone singles.

Elsewhere, Franco featured on the 2021 Winston Surfshirt track, Complicated, which is set to comprise the tracklist of the band’s forthcoming third studio album, Panna Cotta. Speaking of the Franco collaboration in an interview with Happy Mag, the Winston Surfshirt frontman said Complicated was probably like the second beat [Franco] showed me.

Winston continued, “I was under the impression we were going to make some music, but I heard that and was like, ‘Nah, let’s just work on that’.

The latest single comes amid a busy year for Franco, having performed as the opening act at the Solana X Perry’s stage at this year’s Lollapalooza music festival. Franco’s introductory set at the July festival readied audiences for fellow stage entrants like K-pop band, Tomorrow X Together and fellow DJ, James Hype.

Elsewhere, Franco appears on the line-up for end-of-year events, Lost Paradise and Falls Festival, the latter of which will see him take to the stage alongside festival headliners, Arctic Monkeys, Lil Nas X and Ocean Alley, among others. Last week, the venue site for Falls Festival was relocated from the regional town of Lorne to Melbourne city’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Stream Get Your Money (feat.
