Mac Demarco has made a habit of putting out official demo albums following the release of an LP. He’s already gifted us with demo collections for 2, Salad Days, and Another One, so it was only a matter of time before the instalment for This Old Dog emerged. And it looks like it’s coming out this Record Store Day!
Mac Demarco is releasing a demo album for This Old Dog, plus a split “7 of Beat Happening covers with Shamir this Record Store Old.
The announcement came this morning alongside an outrageously good list of special releases, which includes a collaboration between Kevin Shields and Brian Eno, a reissue of Arcade Fire’s debut EP, a bunch of Bowie reissues, a reissue of Courtney Barnett’s debut album, a mono reissue Pink Floyd’s Piper at The Gates of Dawn and heaps more.
As well as the demos album, Mac will be releasing a split 7-inch of Beat Happening covers alongside Shamir. Mac recorded his take on Indian Summer, while Shamir did Run Down the Stairs. All profits from the release will go to the Immigrant Defense Project.
Record Store Day 2018 is happening Saturday, April 21. Keep your eyes peeled for more awesome releases.
