Zoom launches the PodTrak P8 podcast recorder

Zoom is well-and-truly plugged into the podcasting craze. The PodTrak P8 is their most comprehensive effort yet, complete with a range of tools to make podcasting easy.

Suffice it to say, Zoom knows a thing or two about mobile recording. In the past couple of years, they’ve doubled-down in this field and the freshly-minted PodTrak P8 represents their most comprehensive podcast recording solution to date.

Hot on the heels of the compact PodTrak P4, the P8 goes large with more inputs and more options for tracking and editing podcasts.

Recent releases from Zoom, like the aforementioned PodTrak P4 and H8, have focused on maximum functionality while taking up a minimum of space. The PodTrak P8, by contrast, is a more luxurious affair, which aims to sit proudly on your podcasting desk.

With 6 XLR inputs, you can accommodate several interview guests simultaneously. Below the inputs lies a generous touchscreen interface, offering ample metering feedback and options for adjusting recording levels and post-production editing.

You can even patch people in remotely via the phone input, with the levels of the microphones, phone and sound pads (for triggering stings and sound effects) all adjustable with the faders. Recording is available via SD card, plus, you can use the P8 as a USB audio interface.
