Central Coast duo Elwood Myre have just released the much-anticipated music video for single Young Boy Restless.
Beautifully shot and filled with dark emotional narrative, the clip dives head first into depression, drinking, love and loss without missing a beat of their signature yearning sound.
Hailing from the NSW coast, Elwood Myre’s music doesn’t steer away from their folk beginnings, and studio work with star producer Wayne Connolly (Boy & Bear, Josh Pyke, You Am I) has meant that their sound is still true to their origins.
Having expanded their live set to a five piece just recently, the intricacy of Elwood Myre continues to develop. Following on from acts like Shining Bird, this once humble duo is ready to take their sound to new heights.
Not steering clear of the hard topics, the fast moving indie folk group Elwood Myre have been steadily working at producing music with more and more of a dramatic flair.
Having already played alongside some of the world’s biggest acts including a support for a sold out Willie Watson (Old Crow Medicine Show) in 2016 and several festival slots, Elwood Myre are more than ready to carve their own path.
The video encompasses the beauty of the Australian coastal night and the complexity of youth. Twisted yet romantic, Elwood Myre have captured a darker side to friendship and adolescence.
A bold and adventurous release, the storyline loosely follows the duo along a path of self-destruction and reflection. Running away in search of release and realisation, Young Boy Restless will be all too real to those of us searching for meaning at the bottom and a longneck or on the dark highway up north.
With a set of shows in the near future, there is still time to catch these guys live. A blend of classic folk and contemporary production, Elwood Myre are breathing new life into coastal music.
