Iconic singer songwriter Bob Dylan is to release a massive box set of recordings from his Rolling Thunder Revue tour. The sweeping 14 disc set chronicles the first leg of the 1975 – 76 tour and will feature more than 100 previously unreleased recordings.
The Rolling Thunder Revue tour showcased Bob Dylan at his freewheeling best. The box set recordings of this moment in history is slated for a June release.
The tour itself ambushed theatres across North America with little notice. Often joining Dylan on stage were Joan Baez, Ringo Starr, Patti Smith and Joni Mitchell.
Five complete sets feature in the box set, taking in shows from the Northeastern US and Quebec, Canada.
The box set will also be a companion piece to Martin Scorcese’s upcoming Netflix documentary: Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorcese, which is also set to hit screens in June.
The Rolling Thunder Revue box set is out on June 7 via Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings.
