Actor and Hollywood star Jeff Bridges has publicly shared that he is currently undergoing treatment for lymphoma.
Jeff Bridges, best known for his role as Jeffrey ‘The Dude’ Lebowski in the 1998 hit classic, The Big Lebowski, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. The 70-year-old took to social media to disclose the news, stating that the “prognosis is good”.
Posting on his cancer diagnosis, Bridges said: “As The Dude would say … New S**T has come to light. I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors.”
Lymphoma is a type of cancer that begins in the body’s lymphatic system and the various lymph glands around the body (the tissues and organs that are in charge of the white blood cells that fight infections).
Bridges racked up a tonne of support from fans and fellow stars across his Instagram and Twitter posts. Star Trek actor George Takei tweeted: “You’re a fighter. You can beat this”, whilst comedian Kathy Griffin also chimed in with her support, sending Bridges the “wish, the hope, that you get everything you need and anything you want”.
As the son of actors Lloyd and Dorothy Bridges, Jeff is considered Hollywood royalty. The talented actor has an impressive career spanning over six decades in which he has starred in over 70 films. Bridges is next due to feature in and produce the Hulu and FX series, The Old Man.
Take care of yourself, its no joke. Thank you for all the memories from your films. I want to hear that gravely, cigar smoking, coffee drinking, whiskey swilling voice in another film!! Thanks for everything!
