Megan Thee Stallion seems poised to enter the Upside Down, this week teasing a potential appearance in Netflix’s flagship series, Stranger Things.
The rapper — who this year took on a cameo role in Disney+’s She-Hulk — hinted at her involvement in the sci-fi series via Instagram. Megan Thee Stallion shared a carousel in which she holds Stranger Things-branded cue cards, as well as a shot of her in a Netflix director’s chair. The rapper finished the post with an image of spider-decorated nails, with an additional spider emoji in the accompanying caption.
Fans of the show might decipher the cryptic spiders as a reference to Stranger Things’ most recent outing, which premiered in May of this year and featured the eight-legged critters within the origin story of season four’s villain. If true, Megan’s Stranger Things role would likely appear in the show’s imminent fifth and final season, which is expected to hit Netflix screens around wintertime next year.

Although an exciting prospect (could we get a Vecna vs. Meg twerk battle?), the probability of Megan venturing to Hawkins seems unlikely, with Stranger Things creators, The Duffer brothers having spoken of their hesitance to introduce new characters in upcoming seasons. In an interview with IndieWire in August, the director duo said they’re “nervous” to welcome new castmates given that “any moment we’re spending with a new character, we’re taking time away from one of the other actors.”
Megan’s potential Stranger Things appearance would add to an increasingly lengthy list of film and television credits amassed by the rapper. In addition to She-Hulk, the Savage singer has featured in the comedy series Good Girls, and the strip-club drama P-Valley. Her music has also appeared on the soundtracks of 2020’s Birds of Prey and 2019’s Queen and Slim, contributing the songs Diamonds and Ride or Die, respectively.
It’s not the first time Stranger Things has been implicated in the broader music world. Upon its season four premiere earlier this year, the series was responsible for the renewed success of two ‘80s tracks: Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill and Metallica’s Master of Puppets. The songs featured in separate episodes of the fourth season, and led to streaming surges, chart-topping feats and a rare statement by sci-fi superfan Bush.
