Tony Hawk is set to rip it up at Fortitude Valley in Jan

With a career spanning decades, Hawk’s influence extends far beyond the ramps and halfpipes.

Tony Hawk, the name synonymous with skateboarding, has not only made a permanent mark on the world of sports but has also become a cultural icon in the process.

From his early days as a young skater pushing the boundaries of what was thought possible on a board, to becoming the first to land the legendary “900” spin, Hawk’s feats on a skateboard have rewritten the rulebook.

However, it’s not just his gravity-defying stunts that define him. Hawk’s foray into the world of video games with the iconic Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series revolutionized the gaming industry.

So it’s with this in mind, that you should most definitely mark January 27, 2024, on your calendars friends because Tony Hawk is hitting up Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall.

He’s giving fans a taste of his iconic Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game, celebrating a hefty 25 years of skating through generations.

Chances are you have clocked up some serious gaming time with this one, and now, Fortitude Music Hall is going all out to recreate one of the game’s most iconic levels.

Lucky ticket holders are in for a treat. They’ll see Tony Hawk himself tearing it up on an 11ft+ vert ramp, right in the middle of the Fortitude Music Hall. And he’s not alone – he’s bringing along the Birdhouse skate crew, including Lizzie Armanto, Elliot Sloan, Reese Nelson, and Felipe Nunes, who’s pushing boundaries with two prosthetic limbs.

Music and skating have long gone hand in hand, with sets by Bodyjar, DZ Deathrays, and Alex Lahey  will be hitting the stage.  And as if that weren’t enough, we’ve got Yours Truly and Teenage Joans cranking up the punk vibes.

And for all you gamers out there, fear not. You’ll have a chance to play the OG games on a massive 5-metre video wall while Tony and the crew do their thing.

Plus, there’ll be plenty of console stations for some serious gaming sessions.

Tony Hawk’s impact on skateboarding and its culture is huge. From dominating competitions to kickstarting one of gaming’s greatest franchises, this guy’s done it all. And let’s not forget, he’s been the force behind over 600 skateparks in the U.S. through The Skatepark Project. He’s pretty much never stopped, because he’s still out there, tearing it up at a pro level.

So, get ready to witness the legend in the flesh. This is gonna be one for the books.
