A mysterious new video has appeared on the official Tame Impala website

Australian psych pop pioneers Tame Impala have posted a mysterious video to their official website, possibly hinting at new music coming soon.

After releasing two new singles this year, Patience and Borderline, fans have been hanging on every minute update from Kevin Parker’s brightest project. Given it’s been over four years since Tame dropped Currents in July 2016, whisperings of a new album have been at the fore.

Are Tame Impala up to something? A mysterious video on the band’s website seems to indicate that an announcement is coming very soon.

The video depicts Parker in the studio, surrounded by vintage synths and tape machines. It appears to be the same space we saw when Tame Impala posted a short video to Instagram in March, right before the release of Patience.

As for official word on the supposed new record, we sadly have nada. In a year that’s seen Tame Impala headline Splendour In The Grass, Coachella, and Glastonbury, Parker has kept ever so tight-lipped about the music to come.

At Splendour we asked Jay Watson, lifelong member of Tame Impala and Pond, about the record, who admitted that even he didn’t know what was going on.

“I am A) sworn to secrecy. But B) I don’t know anyway. No one tells me! The thing is, no one tells us anything because of moments like this. Which is fair enough!”

Recently we also ranked Tame Impala’s second album Innerspeaker number one in our list of the Top 25 Psychedelic Rock Albums of the 2010s. Check out the full list here.
