Psychedelic rock band from Perth (Fremantle), Western Australia
Pond are an Australian psychedelic rock band formed in Perth in 2008 by Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson and Shiny Joe Ryan. The lineup centres on frontman Nick Allbrook, multi-instrumentalist Jay Watson, Shiny Joe Ryan and drummer James 'Gin' Ireland, all now based in Fremantle. The band is closely entwined with Tame Impala: Allbrook was a member until 2013, Watson plays in both groups, and Kevin Parker counts among Pond's many past members.Prolific from the start — at one point releasing an album almost every year — Pond recorded their sixth LP, Man It Feels Like Space Again (2015), to tape in a two-week Melbourne session. Parker produced The Weather (2017) and co-produced Tasmania (2019), which was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize. The colourful, impressionistic 9 followed in 2021, then the sprawling double LP Stung! (2024), recorded in Dunsborough, Western Australia. The band's eleventh album, Terrestrials, arrived on 19 June 2026 through their own Mangovision label, preceded by its title track and the single 'Through The Heather', and accompanied by a run of United States dates supporting Djo.
