If only every train commute was this charming. Wes Anderson treats us to a delightful Christmas Short that is cheesy in all the right ways

Award-winning director Wes Anderson continues to create a world we all wish to live in. A world where men have perfectly sculpted moustaches, Adrian Brody is our train conductor and society is flooded with pastel hues of green and red.

The film, just short of four minutes long, manages to pack in an emotional narrative of how a blizzard delays the ‘H&M express’ train filled with unconnected and unconventional passengers. The distinctive characters eventually Come Together in the spirit of Christmas.

It would be distressingly cheesy if it weren’t for Anderson’s curious style and execution.

large-imageAs a part of H&M’s Christmas Campaign, the quirky director has produced Come Together, a Christmas short which could join the festive film hall of fame, based on excitable feedback from fashion and movie buffs alike.

This story may resonate more than ever at a time in the world where we could all do with giving a stranger a hug.” Brody said.

This is not Anderson’s first commercial rodeo, so to speak. He has made plenty of TV ads in the past, namely for Ikea and Hyundai.

Eager followers of Anderson’s work are relishing at the opportunity to get a taste of the director’s new work before his mystery “project” will be released in 2018.

It can only be assumed that H&M rewarded the directing legend a lot of creative freedom, as the Christmas short focuses very little on the brand that is supposedly advertised. This isn’t to say going soft on the selling angle is a bad thing. It’s kind of refreshing actually.

A comment needs to be made on the film’s soundtrack. With the ad’s title reminiscent of The Beatles, we were glad to hear the closing tune was John Lennon’s Happy Christmas.

This short little glimpse into the fantastical mind of Wes Anderson is sure to get you pumped for Christmas.
