IK Multimedia has just released SampleTron 2, a massive analog tape-based sample library. Let’s dive into the retro goodness behind it all.
Plugin giant IK Multimedia has released the SampleTron 2, a collection of tape sampled instruments inclusive of a library of over 400 tracks. Don’t be fooled, this is not just another Mellotron plugin with the trimmings, it’s an expansive tape sampling instrument with a plethora of iconic tones on tap. The rare and loved by Phoebe Bridgers’ Mattel Optigan, for example, is just one of the many examples.
The SampleTron 2 has a great collection of new, original samples of the classics Mellotron and Chamberlin tapes, as well as not often recreated sample instruments such as the aforementioned Mattel Optigan, Vako Orchestron, and the 360 Systems digital keyboard. The complete original IK SampleTron content is also included.
Under the hood in the edit section, the user can manipulate volume, fine-tune, pan, filter, and transpose. The effects available include a channel strip, compressor, tape echo and modulations, chorus, flanger, phaser, uni-v and rotary speaker, as well as the new vintage plate reverb developed for AmpliTube 5.
SampleTron 2 can be used as a standalone application or as a plugin inside the IK Multimedia Sample Tank.
