Introducing: Devon Sproule

Hearty country music is good for the soul. Everybody knows it. Whether it’s unleashing to some pre- teen T- Swift, strutting along to Kacey Musgraves, or smashing out Miranda Lambert when you’re home alone, you seriously can’t deny how fantastic it feels to go back to some old fashion country roots and blare it out of your system. Hoping to add to your repertoire of therapeutic country- slayin’ gal- pals, allow me to introduce you to the intoxicating Devon Sproule. Trust me on this one, guys.

Devon

The beautiful country folk singer is coming down under for the first time! Devon Sproule’s soothingly sweet music is not to be missed.

Born and raised on a 100 member, 465 acre eco- village (it may or may not have been called Dandelion) in Kingston Ontario, Devon Sproule is an artist whose wonderful upbringing has clearly impacted her work. Known for the vivid, rich imagery found throughout her lyrics and the intricate guitar work that weaves about her voice, the sound she produces is acutely refreshing, evocative, and nostalgic. But also unique in the fact that Devon can be all of these things as well as purposeful and gripping in her story telling abilities and overall layout of the music she creates.

To be put humbly: Devon Sproule knows her shit. Seriously, put a fork in her- she is done. Don’t even get me started when she’s got a band behind her, go check out Plea for a Good Nights Rest and Old Virginia Block. Just wow. Is she country? Is she indie? Is she jazz in disguise? These questions would trouble a lesser man, but for the esteemed citizen it is obviously no issue at all, for they can recognize the pure quality of such sound when they hear it.

Devon Sproule is currently signed on with Tin Angel Records and her most recent album Colours (collaborated with Mike O’ Neill) is pretty darn impressive. Sproule and O’ Neill compliment each other ridiculously well. Raising the bar for each other their songs are a fast- paced plethora of plucked strings and cooing voices. It’s a feat, and I highly recommend you go check it out.

To make matters only a squillion times better, Devon Sproule’s going to be heading down under (for the first time ever) soon! And we mean SOON. With debut appearances at Brisbane kicking off at the Big Sound Festival in September and later followed by multiple side shows around Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne!
