Lujza is raw and unashamed in new single Daddy Issues

Lujza unveils her raw, emotive single ‘Daddy Issues’ from the upcoming album ‘Life Story’

Emerging from the East Coast of Australia, Lujza unveils the first single from her upcoming sophomore album Life Story.

With an emphasis on emotive storytelling and immense vulnerability, Daddy Issues aims directly at Lujza’s own personal experience of having an absentee father.

Released on Father’s Day – an intentional move – Lujza is milking her most uncomfortable and wrenching experiences for the sake of her art.

With comparisons to the likes of Jill Scott, Lujza channels the vestiges of soul and R&B to create her sensory palette.

With her upcoming Life Story release, Lujza is determined to scrape the depths of the human experience for the most torrid and taboo emotions.

Daddy Issues is clear in its message, and even clearer in its emotion. Rife with anger and resentment and wondering, the single pulls no punches.

Lead by deep, reverberating piano, Lujza releases her brewing rage over the top of a tight trap-esque drum beat, layered vocals delivering relentless strikes against the object of her determination.

Daddy Issues encourages memories of one of pop superstar P!NK’s earlier deep cuts turned hit, Family Portrait.

A timeless topic of abandonment, family dynamics and prevailing loss, Daddy Issues would be an instantly recognisable plea for answers for anyone in a similar situation of grief and confusion.

With this in mind, Lujza has imparted her unyielding honesty and extended a hand to those who can relate.

With the dramatic and theatrical flair of Lana Del Ray, Lujza erupts with a lifetime of stored emotion, unabashedly calling out the father figure in her life who left her with such venomous feelings.

Charged with pent up aggression, Lujza makes it clear that Life Story is going to be an album of therapeutic musings, approaching the darkest corners of both the human psyche and her own emotional experiences.

Daddy Issues sets the tone without hesitation. In its refusal to hold back, Lujza’s newest single will indeed attract those who need to hear it most, and hopefully act as a temporary bandage for their shared wounds.
