Mantis Empire’s new single Summertime is the sunny day jam you need

Rolling in from their home on the idyllic Sunshine Coast are Mantis Empire, who have presented some top-shelf beach vibes in their newest single Summertime.

Bringing easy beats, lulling melodies and a sunny reggae edge, it’s all the goodness of the Queensland coastline rolled into a tight, four minute bundle.

Combining elements of reggae and surf rock into a beaming, funk-heavy package, Mantis Empire’s new track Summertime is a perfect addition to your sunniest playlist.

Summertime is an ode to long days filled with visits to the beach, time with your mates, and no shortage of good tunes. As the warmer weather dies down, it never hurts to keep a track like this in your back pocket – we can feel the good times rolling with every new verse.

The release of Summertime comes off a whirlwind six months for Mantis Empire, one which saw them score their first spot of airplay on triple j and a coveted slot at the Airlie Beach Festival of Music last November.

Summertime began its life as a jam put together for a local songwriting competition, yet after some careful deliberation the Mantis Empire team decided the tune needed time to blossom.

They held back from entering that comp, instead taking Summertime to the iconic Glasshouse Studios under the masterful guidance of producer Angus Woodhead. The polished, catchy end result is what you hear today.
