Edwin Antonio is a 22 year old artist moving between New York and Puerto Rico who, in only a short amount of time, has collaborated with Vogue China, Elie Saab, Acne Studios, Stella McCartney and Balmain among others.
While his dazzling artworks are just so damn nice to look at, Antonio hopes to explore the evolution and diversity of fashion, exploring the historical context of timeless pieces.
In the fashion world, how often do you hear that a piece is timeless? Explore how fashion and beauty has evolved throughout time in the balanced Lego artworks by Edwin Antonio.
Antonio’s Lego X Among The Future series features current runway fashion trends faded into blocks of colour as well as morphing the models into renaissance paintings.
“I want to create a color contrast between the garment and particular paintings from the past centuries. It also presents how these pieces would look in diverse fractions of time during the past eras . Depicting how fashion evolves and looks different yet timeless when presented in various paintings from various centuries. It is a synergy between a photo, painting and a piece of fashion.”
Check out the Lego series below (featuring designs by Marc Jacobs, Versace, Chanel and Barbara Bui respectively) as well as work from other series.
